This book comes from a Punjabi family, and some of the words in it are Punjabi words. They are the real names for real things, so they are kept as they are rather than translated away.
Rangoli is a pattern drawn on the ground in coloured powder. Gulal is the dry colour of Holi. A pichkari is a water squirter. A dhol is a big drum.
